Canadian Rabbit Hopping Club

Kate & Amelia!

After Penelope died, I knew I wanted another Lionhead. Korr, who was bonded to Penelope, was lonely and needed a friend. Neither of us was ready for another rabbit right away, so it was about 6 weeks after Penelope died that I got Amelia.

Knowing I wanted I lionhead, I started to look for the perfect one. After looking on some breeders websites, I saw a mention for a BEW (Blue Eyed White) doe. The trouble was this breeder lives in Edmonton. The CRHC was going there to do some demos for Canada Day, but I wasn't able to go, so I thought I would not be able to get a rabbit form this breeder. Lucky for me, Rose is a friend of the breed and I had met her at Easter through the EARS club. I was talking a bit with her and it turns out that she was coming down to Calgary that weekend for a wedding and was willing to bring this rabbit down for me. I did have to ask my mom, but she was easy to pursue. This happened on Wednesday and I picked up Amelia on Friday. Amelia

Since I was getting her to bond with Korr, I wanted to make sure they could get along before I decided to keep her 100%. The first night she was here they were introduced and seemed to get along ok. The next night I found the perfect name for her and knew then that she was not going anywhere. Her name comes form Amelia Pond from Dr. Who.

At her first practise, she wasn't too sure about doing agilty. She wanted to explore everything but the mats and course. By the end of the night she was starting to do it. At the next event she was at, she flew around the course and I was shocked that she has that in her. She still gets a bit scared and wants to turn around, but we are working on it. With some more practise, she should be beating the big boys.
