Canadian Rabbit Hopping Club

CRHC Rules!

General Rules:

- The purpose of this club is to create a respectable and caring, learning environment through supervised competitions and practices. We want to see that all our members enjoy being a part of the CRHC and therefore poor sportsmanship of any kind will not be tolerated.

- Rabbits must be healthy. New rabbits will be checked by the club founder for any health issues. Established rabbits may be checked at any time. Any rabbit found to not be healthy will not be allowed to participate. Rabbits with contagious diseases will not be allowed at any event until the problem has been cleared up. Rabbits with other health issues (eg. Dental issues) may come to events, but participation is at the discretion of the club founder and the decision if final. Rabbits under vet treatment may only compete if the vet has cleared it. Rabbits that have had surgery (eg. Spay/neuter) must wait at least 14 days before they may participate.

- Handlers need to take into account the age, condition, size and personality of their rabbits when deciding on what to enter them in. Younger or older rabbits as well as large breeds and overweight rabbits should not be pushed hard.

- Rabbits must have a suitable harness to be on the course. Suitable harnesses are H style. Other types will only be allowed with founder approval. A leash is optional and up to the handler if one will be used.

- Only rabbits that are from the same household and get along together may be penned together. This is to prevent the spread of any disease and prevent fighting.

- Rabbits may not be left unattended outside of their pen or cage at events. The handler is responsible for anything their rabbit may do while unattended. Cages or pens should be secure to prevent escaping.

- Ask owner before you pet, feed, handle or otherwise interact with other members rabbits. Some might not like strangers, have specific diet needs or other issues. Ask each time as things do change from event to event.

- Do not allow the public to handle any rabbits that are not yours, especially if the owner of the rabbit is away.

- For the safety of the rabbits, it is not advised to allow members of the public to hold any rabbits. This could also be a liability for the club should anything happen.

- Rabbits must be at least 8 weeks old to come to any event or practise and will be limited in the height they may jump and what they can do. Rabbits may not compete until at least 3 months and may not do High or Long Jump until at least 5 months of age for the safety of the rabbit.

- All rabbits shall be treated with respect. They shall not be picked up by the scruff of the neck; all carrying should be done so that the rabbit is fully supported.

- A maximum of 2 rabbits are allowed to be on the course at any practises or warm-ups.

- Rabbits will not be directed with the feet of the handler.

- Rabbits must have suitable food and water available at all times.

- Rabbits will not be over run and will be given breaks when needed.

- Any handler caught abusing or mishandling their rabbit will be asked to leave the club! No Exceptions!

- Rabbits should be housed indoors. This is for the safety of the rabbit as well as limiting the spread of disease and parasites. Rabbits can be taken outside if supervised or in a safe area.

- The club uniform consists of black pants (shorts may be worn weather permitting) and a red shirt. The shirt should have the club logo if one is available. If a member does not wear the uniform, they will not be allowed to compete. The club logo shall not be altered.

- All members represent the CRHC, any foul or abusive language to members, officials, the public or bunnies will NOT be tolerated!

- Members may not invite non-members into the course without prior permission from the club founder. This includes friends, family and members of the general public.

- Please respect the equipment. If you break something, you are responsible for the costs to replace it. This does not include jump cups.

- Handlers are responsible for the cleanup of their bunnies on course (and off) accidents! For wet cleanups, please use the vinegar/water spray to properly clean area.

- At events, event times are generally posted, please try to be back in time for your rabbit to compete. If in doubt, please ask our announcer to confirm.

- Potential members are required to attend 3 practises or training sessions before they can attend public events or demos. Anyone who does not meet the expectations of the club will not be allowed to join.

- Any club member who is under the age of 14 shall have a parent or guardian with them at all events and practises. The CRHC organizers will not be responsible for unsupervised members.

- Attendance: Members who do not attend any club activities for 3 months must attend 1 practise before participating in any events as a refresher for them and their rabbit.

- Breeding must be taken seriously. Rabbits must be purebred and pedigreed. Breeding should be done to the ARBA standard of perfection for that breed and should be done to create purebred rabbits. The age and condition of rabbits shall be taken into account before breeding. Any breeding should be done with full knowledge of all risks and with full parental approval if the club member is under 18. The CRHC shall not be held responsible for any breeding that may occur.

Agility Rules:

~ Agility may take the form of total timed runs, side by side elimination races or both.

~ Competitors may choose to have their rabbits on or off leash; you know your rabbit better than anyone.

~ Any pole knocked off a jump is a 1 second penalty.

~ Any refusal to do an apparatus (ie. Not going over or going around an apparatus) is a 5 second penalty.

~ Leaving the course is not a penalty, provided the rabbit re-enters the course at the point he left.

~ Time starts on a run when the rabbit's front feet touch the mats off of the pause table.

~ Time stops when the rabbit has all 4 paws on the finish/pause station or clears the hoop jump.

~ Safety zones on the "A" frame are encouraged but not a penalty.

High Jump Rules:

~ High jumps are run like a human high jump, with the 3 fouls and you're out rule.

~ A foul is when any pole is knocked off the jump.

~ Competition will start at 1 pole, it will proceed when all competitors have either cleared the height or fouled out.

~ Poles will continue to be added as long as competitors are successful.

~ Winner shall be the competitor that clears the most poles successfully.

~ In the case of a tie, (eg. The last two rabbits both foul out at 5 poles), winner shall be the competitor with the fewest fouls entering the final round. If there is still a tie, a jump off will take place. The first foul ends the jump off.

~ Competitors have 5 minutes to complete an attempt. If the competitor has not completed the jump in 5 minutes, it is considered a foul. This time may be shortened as competitions continue.

~ If a competitor balks it is not a foul, assuming it is still within the 5 minutes allowed and has not knocked off any poles. They may back up to any point and attempt again.

~ If a competitor touches a bar but it does not fall, it is not a foul.
